Summary
The goals of the Water & Sanitation Program are to provide clean water access to the entire community within a 20-minute walk from each family’s home and adequate sanitation for community members. We've recently made three major decisions. The WatSan program will: 1) proceed with ongoing clean water and sanitation training in association with our partner organization CAWST; 2) drill future wells only after a signed community agreement and formation of a well committee to increase use by the community and ensure higher returns on user-fees; 3) instead of creating an advanced rainwater catchment solution at the household level, encourage local rainwater catchment technology that is relatively effective and very cost-efficient. So far the Water & Sanitation Program has drilled four deep wells at local primary schools in partnership with Living Water International. These four deep wells are strategically located to drastically reduce the amount of time and energy spent collecting water, and have resulted in higher school attendance (especically for girls), and reduced waterborne disease. -Last updated 07/05/010

Of course, most of our staff has been in their shoes and could connect with and console them. Once again, there was no way that I could have done the same job as our own staff. There was no way that I could understand their situation.
Once the villagers knew about our trainings, we teamed up with the
