Summary

The Community Economic Development (CED) Program provides financial training and resources to help rural households living in extreme poverty build savings and invest in income-generating activities. CED provides access to basic financial services through unique savings-led microfinance programs and innovative mobile technologies such as Mifos MIS and M-PESA mobile money. These resources allow farmers in even remote, rural areas to learn how to manage savings, loans, and business opportunities. Revenue earned from loan interest is used to maintain and expand Nuru’s rural microfinance program, the Jamii Development Fund (JDF).  -Last updated 06/07/11
